This might seem like a crazy question, but I'll ask anyway. I am taking a vacation at the end of the month for at least a couple weeks. I am debating whether to take my smalltalk ultra with me. Ever since I had a Braille Lite m40 destroyed in an airport security scanner 3 years ago, I have been leary of flying with adaptive equipment for fear it might get damaged. Does anyone own a smalltalk ultra which they have put through a security scanner? has it worked properly after it comes out? interested in opinions.
Wow. I hadn't heard of that happeneng before. If I recall, isn't the small talk basically a very small laptop? I've put my laptops through security on multiple ocasions without any problems, though I don't know if the smalltalk would be any different.
Just make sure you put it in one of those orange bins they give you and it should be fine. I fly at least twice a month every month, and have never had a problem.
I often put my computer through airport seccurity, and it's never had anything go wrong with it...
Odd
I've carried notetakers with me and never had a problem. I know we're talking apples and orranges so to speak, but that's my experience.

Also, you can ask that they visually and physicaly inspect it, rather than run it through the X-ray if you're that wigged out about it.
Whenever I take my braillenote through airport security I ask them not to put it through the xray thingy. When you get there just aske them to visually and physcically inspect it.
I have a BN, and it gets put through the X-ray machine. Just take it out of your luggage and put it in the bins.
And the xray thing doesn't hurt keysoft?
I recently took my laptop through the airport seccurity xray machine, and it works fine. I guess sometimes you can just be unlucky
